   Tell them that you want them to secure agreements in Copenhagen without conditons and also to make unconditional commitments to do whatever it takes to cut UK emissions to as little as possible, as quickly as possible and to enshrine it in law or policy so that future governments are tied to it.
   The following facts, even if they are not strictly accurate, do represent a fair assessment of the enormity of the problems we face. And if we do not act now, we may end up starting a chain of events, during which, many species including humans may become extinct!
   
   
   • It takes about 20 years for our pollution today to show full effects and we may have already done enough damage now to reach the 2 deg limit.
   • The effects of climate change are becoming far more rapid, as decades pass, than was predicted at the turn of the century, and we may be close to unpredictable tipping events.
   • A 2 deg rise is sufficient to displace a billion people, cause mass famines and drinking water shortages worldwide.
   • The coming post peak oil era will exacerbate the pollution levels by a mass change to coal, gas and use of dirty oil (Canada tar sands etc).
