The traditional way in the Highlands, just over a generation ago, was for people to help each other with the harvest. Also goods would be swapped and produce given in exchange for labour. A great system which, when done today, avoids tax.

Charity Shops

There are many charity shops in Inverness which all contain very good quality books, clothes, bric a brac etc. You can either donate goods or buy; either alternative stops waste.

      Though a Christian organisation which primarily provides support to disadvantaged people overseas, they do also run the Highland Food Bank, the aim of which is to provide free emergency food for a three day period - mainly to people in Inverness.
